"Kari Moran did a wonderful interview with me. Many unique questions, and for a change, this interviewer had read my book, "The Cavendon Women". Her charming manner also added a lot to our conversation."

"Kari is a total pro. She put me at ease immediately and asked smart questions. She had clearly read my book with interest and care. Particularly with the dwindling print media devoted to books, the literary world is fortunate to have BookRadio."

John Byrne Cooke

john byrne_cooke

For 3 very intense years, John Bryce Cook was the Road Manager for singer-songwriter Janis Joplin and two of the 3 bands that backed her: "Big Brother and The Holding Company", her first and "The Full Tilt Boogie Band", her last. Cooke, who discovered Joplin's body at the Landmark Motor Hotel in Hollywood after her heroin overdose on October 4th, 1970, writes that Janis Lyn Joplin was a complex, intelligent woman who was both tough and tender. They became friends as they traveled to concert venues around the globe. Cooke says Joplin, who swigged Southern Comfort and abused drugs throughout her career, was working to bring her habit under control and was happily recording demos for a new album when she overdosed. Cooke believes Joplin, who was only 27, was among the 9 addicts who died after injecting a "bad batch" of heroin that was distributed in the Hollywood area that weekend.

A Novel

Darcey Steinke

darcey steinke

"Sister Golden Hair" tells the coming of age story of 12 year old Jesse, the pubescent daughter of a defrocked Methodist Minister who's on a journey to figure out just what he really believes in. It's 1972, and the "Swinging 70's" is blooming, upending societal and sexual norms. It's a dangerous time for a young girl emerging from adolescence. Jesse's parents, along with little brother Phillip, are finally moving from Philadelphia into a development in Roanoke, Virginia. It's there that Jesse enters high school and begins her transition from naive girl to somewhat jaded teenager, learning about life and love from her dissatisfied mother, school chums Pam and Jill and girl-crush, Sheila.

Overcome Anxiety,

Panic Attacks, and

Agoraphobia for Good

Hal Mathew

hal mathew

Nearly 2 million Americans suffer from Agoraphobia...a seriously disabling but temporary mental illness brought on by repeated panic attacks. Agoraphobics feel intensely unsafe. Their brains emit chemicals that keep them in a state of high alert and they avoid crowds and wide open spaces, some won't even leave their homes. Former Journalist and Social Worker Hal Mathew suffered his first panic attack at the age of 10. After self-treating for years with alcohol and prescription pills, Mathew finally developed a plan that freed him from "the fear of fear" 20 years ago. Since then, he's been leading support groups and recovery programs, helping those suffering from panic attacks to retrain their brains and restore peace of mind.
